The advantages of a 99p Camera!
Finding myself in Brighton with a couple of hours to spare, I planned on taking some photos on the pier - but the weather had other ideas, and as I walked along the seafront it went from sunny to stormy in just a few minutes, becoming so wet and windy that the rain was literally coming in sideways! And the pier was virtually empty, so after just a few shots I headed back for shelter in the town centre
I used my Holga 120 for these photos, because its lack of batteries, electronics or any other features of a 'proper' camera, give it the distinct advantage in a heavy downpour as there is nothing inside that can get damaged. While I was at the pier it got so dark I had to fire the shutter three or four times just to get the correct exposure on the iso 400 film I was using. I didn't use a tripod so there is a lot of camera movement, which has definitely resulted in some interesting images!!
As a postscript to these images, the third Sunday in October is 'World Toy Camera Day' and THIS IMAGE was selected as being the most creative one taken on World Toy Camera Day 2024!!
