Making Black & White Photos from Colour Photo Negatives

Black & White Photos from Colour Photo Negatives

These images were all taken using colour film, and mostly shot on dull overcast days using a variety of toy cameras. Controls on these cameras are a bit basic, the shutter button presses on a wire spring behind the lens and when the tension gets too much the shutter closes again, and sometimes it does this a bit too quickly! The aperture is a small plastic disc that moves to let different amounts of light in depending on the aperture chosen - but this often gets stuck, and there is no way to tell! All of these negatives were originally underexposed and unusable for colour prints, but by converting them to black and white and adding a lot more contrast I now have a set of photos that I'm happy with.
